Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – With its access plaza, walkways, trails, bicycle lanes, vehicular roads, as well as 10 buildings for training workshops, cafeterias, health services, administration, dry fountain, pond, the aquarium and in the future the Museum of Modern art, this is how it is made up the Central Park of Mazatlán that this Friday state and municipal authorities formally inaugurated.

This park is considered one of the largest natural spaces in Mazatlán, due to its area of ​​93,861 square meters.

The governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, expressed his pleasure for having transformed an “abandoned” place into a totally different place that will give Mazatlán a different face.

“This beautiful square, this great park that is the lung of Mazatlán, will undoubtedly be an icon and a reference point of a before and after, an abandoned place totally neglected, contaminated and now turned into a great center. of public recreation so that they visit it ”, he explained.

For his part, Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres, indicated that the projects that the governor left at the door will continue.

“We told him, we want to take the lead because we want to follow the example and today we are inaugurating the park and we are going to continue working to improve it,” he commented.

Meanwhile, Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel stressed that this is an emblematic work that will become an icon for the city, where Mazatlán will position itself as a high-level tourist destination, especially because its design rescues the ecological vocation of the city. lagoon.

Central Park is an urban complex of 32 hectares that is made up of the polygons of the City Forest, the Aquarium, the sports fields of Kilometer Zero, and the southern Camarón lagoon and its investment was 208 million 768 thousand pesos, which added to the 3 million 924 thousand pesos applied in gardening and the 125 million 289 thousand pesos of the avenue “Quirino Ordaz Coppel”, total an investment of 337 million 982 thousand pesos.

According to the State Secretary of Public Works, Osbaldo López Ángulo, the work had an investment of 210 million pesos, all with state resources.

He stated that although the initial project contemplated the construction of a museum called “La Perla”, due to time and resources it was not possible to carry out.

He indicated that it is not a project that will be discarded, but that the incoming authorities will surely take it up again.

The park has bike lanes and trails, an interactive space with educational, sports, recreational, cultural and tourist infrastructure, in addition to having a food truck food area.
