The phenomenon began this week, affecting the quality of the water of the two water treatment plants; the paramunicipal carries out work to solve the problem
Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The water that began to arrive in the last hours at the water treatment plants that Jumapam operates is dirty, even with a lot of mud and garbage, which prevents it from being clarified, that is the reason why the users of Mazatlán receive it cloudy at home, she reported Luis Gerardo Núñez Gutiérrez.
The general manager of Jumapam, explained that despite the fact that the last rains were more than a week ago, the water is getting even dirtier than during the passage of hurricane “Pamela”, so today the Operations Management carried out de-silting work in the stream of Burros.
“The water in the Picachos dam is getting too dirty, in this case very muddy in terms of land, which for us represents a double the work and a double investment because we have to put more chemicals in it, but above all it is that we are not being able to get the quality water that we want, because the raw material, in this case the water that comes from the Picachos dam, is in very bad condition, we make the statement so that people can understand us a little bit ”.
Beyond the expense of adding more chemicals to the process of purification and clarification of the water that reaches the Miravalles and Los Horcones plants, the most worrying thing is not producing water with the quality that the Mazatlan population demands, said Núñez Gutiérrez Well, even if it is purified, its coloration makes it suspicious that it is suitable for human consumption.
