Culiacan, Sinaloa.- With the recent approval of equal marriage in Sinaloa, the director of the Civil Registry in Sinaloa, Marco Antonio Irizar Cárdenas, commented that once the executive publishes it in the Official Gazette of the State of Sinaloa, the dependency that he presides will have 60 days to make the necessary adjustments.

The State Congress unanimously approved the amendment of Articles 40 and 165 of the Family Code to extend the definition of marriage and common-law marriage.

“Indeed, they have just created a reform in the State Congress in which some articles of the Family Code were modified, from now on equal marriages will be allowed in the State of Sinaloa, however, we have to be clear that this leads a procedure and as for the State Congress that opinion will pass it on to the executive for publication and from there it will be necessary to analyze the transitory articles that this opinion has, “he said.
