Mazatlán.- The port of Mazatlán is filled with national tourists on weekends.
Hotel leaders assured that occupancy is at the top: 80 percent.
The marketing coordinator of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies, José Gámez Valle, asserted that tourists have been arriving since Friday.
He explained that because the state is on a green traffic light, the capacity allowed in lodging establishments is 80 percent.
Visitors from Monterrey, Chihuahua, Torreón, Sonora, Jalisco, Mexico City, Durango, Mexicali, Aguascalientes, and the state of Sinaloa come to the port . Most arrive by road, either in charter buses or in their own vehicles.
For two weeks, travelers have had greater confidence, because last year reservations were not made. The tourists came to Mazatlan without any previous plan.
Currently, the establishments already have reservations until the month of July. With reservations, there are good expectations for the next summer vacation.
The tourism servers commented that they are hopeful that activity will increase in the next holiday season and thus a true economic recovery can be obtained.
Tourists bathe on the beaches, others choose to ride catamarans across the bay until they reach Isla de la Piedra.
The beneficiaries are the tourist servers and the workers of the transport sector, such as the aurigas and pulmonias that transport visitors through the beach area.
