With the authorization to reopen tourist spaces attached to specific health measures, in order to avoid outbreaks of the coronavirus, the Government of Chiapas through the Ministry of Tourism launched seven tourist routes to facilitate the visit of travelers or, to the planning of new circuits for tour operators.
These routes were designed to benefit the economic reactivation of entrepreneurs related to this area. Just within them there are more than a thousand lodging establishments, which represent just over 20 thousand rooms, 900 food and beverage establishments.
In addition, there are more than 250 tour operators, transporters and vehicle rental companies, 55 tourist centers, 10 archaeological sites, three areas of historical and artistic monuments, seven biosphere reserves and four magical towns. All companies and attractions with the necessary protection measures.
Each tourist route begins or ends in the main tourist destinations of the state: Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tapachula, San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Palenque or Comitán: Maya Route, Costa Soconusco Route, Zoques Province Route, Two Chiapas Route, Camino Real Route, Haciendas Route, Living Cultures Route.
The name of each route is based on studies that recognize each region for its history, traditions, customs, cultural and natural wealth; They are flexible in terms of time to travel them, in a few or many days, and that in the future the tourist routes will enrich the Mayan Train.
All the tours were also designed so that national and international visitors can taste the gastronomy, as well as the high quality artisan products of each region.
They also offer the possibility of participating in the most important festivities in Chiapas; The Fiesta Grande de Chiapa de Corzo: the parachicos, the Coiteco Carnival, the Danza del Calala´ in Corpus Christi, Carnival in Tenejapa, among others.
For this new normality and in order to offer security to all tourist actors and visitors to Chiapas, the sector authorities developed a health protocol based on a certificate called “Clean Contact”.
This distinctive is endorsed by the Secretariat of Health and the Secretariat of Civil Protection of Chiapas, highlighting its gratuitousness, for its online training courses and its verification in each establishment through coordinated work with the municipalities.
Said certificate is complemented with a practical guide of 10 fundamental principles of biosafety to facilitate its application among the providers of tourist services in Chiapas.
It is worth mentioning that to provide security for tourists who arrive in the state by air, the “Ángel Albino Corzo” International Airport continues with its sanitary protocol, which even became a national benchmark for the sanitary measures applied to travelers.
