Although Mazatlan hotels are not operating at their full capacity, regional tourism has been beneficial to the Pulmoneros.
Mazatlán, Sinaloa (August 23, 2020) .- After 4 months without a job, Pulmoneros are back in their activity, as reported by Mariano Ortega Vizcarra, president of the Pulmonias Cooperative of Mazatlán.
He said that since the tourist reactivation on July 1 and during the summer holidays, the Pulomonías’ service was reinstated in the port.
“It has been a real breath of fresh air for us after 4 months of practically zero income, because the regional tourism that comes here to Mazatlán, has been very good for us, in some way they have generated an economic spill that we did not expect ”, he explained.
Although the hotels are not operating at their full capacity, regional tourism has been beneficial to the Pulmoneros.
“We have registered very good numbers even though the hotels are practically operating at 30-40 percent in terms of capacity and all the restrictions, the demand in our case has reached 50 percent,” he continued.
Regarding the health situation of the Pulmonias’ operators, he mentioned that fortunately there were no infections or deaths to regret, however, at the slightest symptom, the operator was taken to a medical evaluation, in addition, to apply the protocols to avoid contagions between them and the users.
“A protocol was made that it was necessary to use face masks, glasses or goggles, sanitize the units every day, and bring chlorinated solution in a flannel to sanitize every time a passenger gets on or off the Pulmonia, besides, all units carry antibacterial gel ”, he concluded.
