The economic revival of Cancun with the opening of 41 hotels this week has generated strong criticism from the president of the International Defender of Human Rights, Gerardo Solís Barreto, who has assured that it has been irresponsible for the convenience of hotel businessmen.

Citizens have also questioned this decision, which has been accompanied by the change of the red to orange sanitary traffic light in the northern part of the state carried out by the Governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquín González. Solís has criticized this change arguing, among other things, that it is where the highest rate of infections and deaths from Covid-19 is concentrated, Quintanaroohoy publishes.

The president of the International Defender of Human Rights has assured that it has been an act of “irresponsibility” on the part of the governor to change the traffic light, “since it endangers the lives of citizens.” Likewise, he has dismissed this decision as “negligence” that could generate more deaths and that the governor can be reversed.

The Quintana Roo economic reactivation plan included tourism as an essential activity and established, like the federal government, a traffic light with four phases identified by the colors red, orange, yellow, and green that determine the level of alert to give way. to the gradual reopening of establishments, according to REPORTUR.mx
