Tenants around the area do not want their businesses vandalized as well.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa (May 22, 2020).- The so.called Linear Park (Parque Lineal) located on Óscar Pérez Escobosa Avenue has been totally vandalized.

Walls are scratched and full of graffiti, floors are damaged, and exercise equipment is destroyed.

Before the pandemic, many Mazatlecos opted for the compound to go for a walk, relax, read a book, exercise, and take their children to play there.

Citizens lamented the conditions in which the park is now. They say that this used to be one of the favorite places to spend time with the family.

In March 2015, the park was inaugurated by the then Governor Mario López Valdez, with an investment of 18 million pesos. The first stage of the linear park consisted of 850 meters.

A two-way bike path, an outdoor gym, sports courts and playgrounds were built on the site.

The tenants located around the linear park urge the municipal authorities to rehabilitate it. They stressed that all facilities, especially the walls, need maintenance.

The merchants also request the support of Public Security to cover the entire area three times a day. Especially at night, as they fear for the safety of their businesses.
