The capital of Yucatan dominates the preferences of national tourists who chose cultural destinations this year.
According to the Skyscanner travel metasearch engine, Mexican travelers preferred cultural destinations in 2019. Among them, 34% chose Mérida, in Yucatan, for its combination of cultural and natural attractions, placing the Yucatecan capital at the top of the preferences.
Among the attractions of this colonial city in southeastern Mexico, travelers highlighted its natural landscapes, the beauty of its white buildings and its cultural wealth. Yucatecan cuisine also formed an important part of the preference of Mexican travelers who visited the destination throughout the year.
