The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) and the Ministry of the European Union and Foreign Affairs of France signed a collaboration agreement to promote the teaching of the French language in public schools of Basic Education at the secondary level.

This is a pilot program that will begin in 34 public high schools in the country, which will seek to replicate in hundreds of schools, said Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

During the signing of agreements between the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France and the Secretariats of Foreign Affairs, Public Education, Labor, and Social Welfare and Public Service, said that the fact that the French language “returns to Mexico to public schools, it’s great news for the country. ”

He recalled that the Liceo Franco Mexicano is the most important in Latin America, so it seeks to initiate a plan of linguistic and methodological training for teachers of French, in addition to organizing seminars for reflection in the field of teaching and learning of this language.

“It will be a fruitful program that will have multiplicative effects in the medium term,” noted the head of the SEP, who stressed that with the declaration of intentions and the agreement signed this Thursday will give greater intensity to the Franco-Mexican bilateral relationship on the matter educational

In this context, Moctezuma Barragán highlighted the declaration of intent that the agency in charge signed with France to manage financial support for projects that exceed the duration established by Mexfitec “and that we seek to support the beneficiaries of the program to obtain the title of engineer diplomat”.
