The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Alfonso Durazo, said in the rostrum of the Chamber of Deputies that, although it seems incredible, the son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, Ovidio Guzmán , has no arrest warrant in the country.
“There is an arrest warrant for the exclusive purpose of extradition, which means that the crimes for which he is accused have been committed in another country and not in Mexico,” he said in the face of criticism from the National Action Party (PAN).
In a quick appearance before the plenary session of San Lázaro, within the framework of the glossary of the first government report of the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Durazo Montaño denied any deal with organized crime.
“There is absolutely no negotiation, absolutely not. We are an honest, transparent and socially committed government, as our country has not had, ”said the federal official.
The Secretary of Security warned that it is far from the government’s policies to agree with crime, and pointed out that the property was not secured “because this person does not have in our country, you will not believe it, you do not have order in our country of apprehension. “
“The extradition order was well known to the group responsible for the operation and is practically a routine process. What was seen in the Security Cabinet are all cases of extradition in general and we receive (…) the indication of the President of the Republic to collaborate in these extradition processes to the extent that, of course, they were appropriate, ”he stressed Durazo Montaño.
He admitted that mistakes are always likely to be made and there is an open attitude of the federal government to take responsibility, and enough humility to correct.
“We are not defending a narrative, we are defending information about the evolution of events. They are many questions. The media are also wrong and made mistakes, ”he said.
Durazo Montaño emphasized that in this process there were serious mistakes, “such as the publication of a photograph attributed to an exchange of alleged prisoners. That hurt a lot, because they assumed it with a veracity that evidently was very far from the truth. ”
