The Operator and Administrator of Beaches and fishermen in the area recognize that it is not possible to do this cleaning manually due to the large clusters dispersed on the coast

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- The Operator and Beach Manager, OAP, received a call from the Semarnat for using a backhoe in the beach area to remove the seaweed.

The ban was because the PAO does not have an Environmental Impact Statement.

“We received a notice from Semarnat on August 17 in which they tell us that it is not feasible to put a backhoe or a dump truck, because we were going to have affectations,” said Rogelio Olivas Osuna, director of this paramunicipal.

Therefore, fishermen in the North Beach (Playa Norte) area launched a call to the authorities to continue supporting machinery that will help them remove the accumulations of seaweed that the storm surge carries every day.

Faced with this problem, Olivas Osuna revealed that work will be done on an emerging plan for 2020 which contemplates what to do in these types of situations, in addition to trying to obtain the corresponding permits from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

However, he said that sweepers are already being repaired, which are not considered “heavy machinery” and that these could help with the work.
