Dengue cases tripled, last year there were two thousand 827 of January to the third week of August, in the same period in 2019 eight thousand 973 cases have been documented.

According to the General Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, 72% of the confirmed cases are in Veracruz, Chiapas, Jalisco, Quintana Roo and Oaxaca.

Until August 19, Veracruz had two thousand 492 confirmed cases, Chiapas thousand 725, Jalisco thousand 204, Quintana Roo 535 and Oaxaca 507.

Until that date, 28 deaths had been reported, seven more compared to 2018, when 21 people died.

Infection by this disease predominates in women, who account for more than half of the registered cases.

The number of incidents could increase in the following weeks, since the samples of more than 55,774 people who have had symptoms, but whose status remains unconfirmed, are under analysis.

Dengue is transmitted through the bite of female mosquitoes belonging to the Aedes species, particularly Aedes aegypti.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that there is an epidemiological alert in Latin America and the Caribbean, for the most serious increases in contagion in the last 30 years.

According to the agency, Brazil, Colombia and Nicaragua are the countries most affected by this disease and stressed that until July this year more than two million people had been infected. There are also 723 fatalities.

IN HIDALGO, THE FIRST DEATH FROM DENGUE

Hidalgo reported the first death in case of dengue, confirmed the Ministry of Health through its report Epidemiological Panorama of Dengue .

According to the document, updated to August 19, in one week the entity presented a significant increase in the number of cases detected, from 84 to 134, of which four were cataloged with alarm signs and one more serious.

The locality that accumulates more infected reports is Jaltocan, with 39 cases; San Felipe Orizatlán accumulates 30, while Atlapexco has nine and Yahualica recorded seven incidents.
