Culiacán, Sinaloa, July 19, 2019.- Maintaining in 3.50 pesos the preferred rate for students and granting 50% discount to disabled people in support of the economy of the Sinaloan families, the State Technical Council of Roads and Transports authorized that the update of the public transport fare is only 1 peso and only in the case of the 2019 model units it will be 1.50 pesos.
The foregoing in compliance with the Mobility Law in its article 275 and the result of the technical studies and field reviews where economic variables were taken into account and valuing the cost that for the dealers means to provide the service after the constant increase in the price of fuel in our country, which registers an increase of 22.5% from 2017 to date.
The updating of the rate will allow to continue advancing in the modernization of public transportation in Sinaloa, where an important step was taken with the replacement of 200 units for Culiacán, Mazatlán, Los Mochis, Guasave and Guamúchil with the support of the State Government.
The interest of the state authority is to work together with the concessionaires so that the public transport service in Sinaloa has more sustainable, air-conditioned units, with connectivity and security cameras, a panic button, preferential seating and that carriers have a rate that allows them to modernize their buses.
In that sense, the rate of urban trucks 2019 that have air conditioning, video surveillance services, geolocator, panic button, and preferred seats will go from 9.50 to 11.00 pesos per passenger; the units of the previous model with air conditioning will charge 10.50 pesos and those that do not have air conditioning will have a price of 9.50 pesos.
Notwithstanding the fact that the initial request of the transporters organized in the state was an update of 4.50 pesos to the urban transport tariff, since the last update was in August of 2017; The Technical Council decided to support the family economy of the Sinaloans and approved an update of only 1 peso and only in the case of the 2019 models will be 1.50 pesos.
In the case of foreign transport, the base rate is maintained at 11.00 pesos and the additional kilometers are adjusted according to inflation.
It should be noted that in Sinaloa there are 2250 city buses in circulation, of which only 8.2%, 185 vehicles, are able to charge the new rate of 11 pesos.
The new rates are effective from July 19, by virtue of their publication in the official newspaper of the State of Sinaloa.
