Mazatlan, Sinaloa .- The Mazatlan businessman, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, considered important the partnership between Government and Private Initiative to join efforts and increase tourism promotion of the different destinations of the republic; this, in relation to the proposal of the president of Concanaco Servytur, José Manuel López Campos, to create a bipartite entity that supposes the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico.

“Right now the Concanaco Servytur is doing a very important project, especially how to continue promoting tourist destinations, this is the part that belongs to the productive sectors … On the other hand, we know that the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico (CPTM), has already disappeared, so we, as productive sectors, – I believe that in all federal entities -, we have to work on new models and new projects, “he said.

He added that this proposal should be joined by businessmen and government authorities and the Secretariats of Tourism of all federal entities so that, finally, it can be backed by the Federal Government.

The president of the Commission of Hotels and Motels of Concanaco Servytur also explained how the CPTM operated: “the CPTM told you, ‘you put one peso (federative entity) and I put another one’; Today is no longer the other weight, then we have to look for how to be more effective and have more direction, more precision in tourism promotion, and that is the part where we have to work very hard, is the model that has the Concanaco.

Romero Rodríguez explained that such contribution from the State arises from a proportion of the Lodging Tax, which is of a state nature. In this regard, estimated that in Sinaloa, in 2019, will be collected 100 million pesos under this concept, which are directed to the Ministry of Administration and Finance, to be made available to the Ministry of Tourism and Associations of Hotels and other entities of the tourist sector.
