Mexico Civil Protection describes the hurricane season for 2019 as uncertain but stronger

The number of hurricanes that could make up the 2019 season will be announced in the coming weeks

La Paz, Baja California Sur. Undersecretary of Civil Protection in Baja California Sur, Carlos Godínez León , mentioned that a more intense cyclonic season is expected with a greater number of events in the Pacific Ocean; this due to global climate change.

The aforementioned occurs after conducting a working meeting with the general director of Civil Protection Liaison and Monitoring, under the Ministry of the Interior, Héctor Amparano .

The prognosis of the number of hurricanes will be announced within 2 weeks by the National Water Commission (Conagua) , later, the State Council of Civil Protection will meet to analyze the actions that will make it possible to face the season.

It should be noted that, the season will officially start on May 15 and ends on November 30, however, days ago the first tropical disturbance was formed, although it did not evolve.

The names that will be destined for this period of hurricanes 2019 are: Alvin, Barbara, Cosme, Dalila, Erick, Flossie, Gil, Henriette, Ivo, Juliette, Kiko, Lorraine, Mario, Narda, Octave, Priscilla, Raymond, Sonia, Tico , Velma, Wallis, Xina, York and Zelda.

Finally, during the meeting between civil protection officials, particularities of previous years were studied, concluding that conditions similar to those of 1968, 1986, 2014 and 2016 exist, with high temperatures close to the national coasts.W
