Hotel occupancy picks up in Mazatlan before Christmas

By Wednesday the bulk of tourists will arrive by the end of the year.

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- This weekend before Christmas, occupancy in hotels on Avenida Del Mar registered an occupation of 70%.

From early on, the charter trucks with families began to arrive to enjoy a weekend. It is estimated that Monday will go down slightly, to rebound from 26.

The president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, explained that according to the reservations in the establishments of Del Mar Avenue, on December 26 as of January 3, occupations will be above 95%.

For his part, the secretary of the National Chamber of Commerce in Mazatlan, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, said that after Christmas comes a large flow of people, as it is a tourist destination to which many people go to have a good time with their family.

Meanwhile, the operators of the charter buses expressed that the eve of Christmas keeps the demand for this service low.

“It has been very quiet and even in this 2018 has seen a smaller influx, compared to previous years and this season, in particular, many people prefer to receive Christmas as a family,” they commented.

He added that it is not only Mazatlan where there is a decrease in the influx of charters tourists in these times because the same happens in other destinations, such as Puerto Vallarta; the only place where the situation looks favorable, he said, is in Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.
