Due to the excessive noise from music bands on the beaches, and from pulmonías and aurigas in the tourist zones and historic center, tourism industry entrepreneurs meet with municipal authorities and musicians behind closed doors in the City Council Chamber.

After a meeting of just over two hours, they agreed to set a schedule for music bands and to lower the decibels.

Agreements

The meeting, chaired by the Mayor of Mazatlán, Edgar González, who was accompanied by the Secretary of the Municipality, Adda Sarahi Rosas, the Chief Officer, Rogelio Olivas, and councilors, listened to the needs of all parties and decided to establish 7:00 PM as the deadline for musicians working in the beach area.

In addition to zoning music bands that request permission to work, in order to avoid an excess of band members that can cause high noise levels and reduce the number of speakers used, only for vocalists.

Permissive Destination

The sales director of Pueblo Bonito, José Gámez, highlighted that the conflict of noise pollution affecting Mazatlán is largely due to the permissiveness of the authorities,

“Mazatlán is the only destination that is permissive, the bands on the beach, the aurigas, the pulmonías with excessive noise, now that we are invaded by the Razers, also that they cross you on the boardwalk,” order must be established.

Amado Guzmán Reynaud, president of the Governing Council of the Historic Center, highlighted that they were convened by the authority for the regulation of excessive noise.

José Ramón Manguart, president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association, indicated that noise is a topic that comes first in surveys, as one of the complaints of visitors.
