Carlos Loret de Mola Accuses the Government and Morena of Faking a Break with Former Governor Rubén Rocha Moya After the Violence Crisis in Sinaloa
Journalist Carlos Loret de Mola launched a harsh criticism of the federal government and the Morena party, accusing them of orchestrating a strategy of political deception to distance themselves from Rubén Rocha Moya following the crisis of violence and impunity affecting the state of Sinaloa.
In his most recent column, titled “The Mockery,” Loret argues that the official narrative is attempting to sell the idea of a break with the former governor without taking on political costs or legal responsibilities.
“They want to sell us the idea that President Sheinbaum took command and removed him from power, but Rocha is still free… for 119 days they have been repeating like parrots that ‘there is no evidence’ to accuse him of being involved in drug trafficking,” the journalist states.
The journalist argues that the attempted distancing is unsustainable because the key figures taking over politically belong to the same group. As an example, he highlights Senator Enrique Inzunza and the profile of the new interim governor, who had been part of the Rocha administration.
The Digital Evidence Linking Imelda Castro to Rubén Rocha Moya
To challenge the narrative of a break with Morena’s gubernatorial candidate, Imelda Castro, Loret turned to the digital archive to recover joint publications and campaign advertisements demonstrating a longstanding political alliance between the two politicians.
Evidence from news archives cited by the journalist:
- Campaign advertisements: “Hello, Sinaloa! We are Rubén Rocha Moya and Imelda Castro,” the senator said during the 2018 campaign.
- Legislative work: Jointly signed resolutions in the Senate of the Republic.
- Social media: Public messages in which Castro described Rocha as her “dear friend” and stated that he “leads the hope for change.”
- Explicit endorsements: Publications featuring the slogan “It is an honor to stand with Rocha today!”
“Enough of the simulations. Take responsibility for your Rocha. You put him there, you promoted him, you looked the other way when collusion with the Sinaloa Cartel was reported, you protected him, and you continue to keep him in impunity,” he emphasized.
The Consequences of the “Narco-Peace” in the State
Loret de Mola concludes that the current administration must assume responsibility for the social consequences that its security strategy has left on the people of Sinaloa, demanding a public apology for the number of victims.
“They handed control of the state to a cartel, and when the cartel turned on itself, they did not know how to regain control. Sinaloa is the clearest example of what happens when you bet on narco-peace. When you surrender sovereignty to a handful of criminals,” the journalist concluded.
