MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s Men’s Under-20 national football team capped off an undefeated regional campaign by lifting the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship trophy, cementing their status as the dominant youth power in North, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Throughout the tournament, El Tri displayed defensive resilience and tactical sharpness, outclassing opponents across six consecutive victories. The Mexican squad delivered clinical performances in the knockout stages, controlling tempo and capitalizing on set-piece opportunities to overcome regional rivals and secure the gold medal.
Mexico’s title run featured standout individual accolades across the pitch. Forward Hugo Camberos took home the Golden Ball award as the tournament’s most outstanding player, while also claiming top-scorer honors with five goals across six matches. In goal, Cristo Navarrete earned the Golden Glove after conceding just a single goal throughout the entire competition, anchoring a defense that recorded five clean sheets.
Beyond regional glory, the championship performance holds major international significance. By advancing to the tournament’s final four, Mexico secured automatic qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in late 2027.
