Mazatlán has confirmed its position as one of Mexico’s most dynamic sun-and-beach tourist destinations this year, recording just over 2.6 million visitors from January to July 2026.
This was announced by the Sinaloa Ministry of Tourism on Friday, July 31, 2026, when it presented an overview of tourism activity. The agency highlighted that this steady flow of visitors has kept the sector operating at optimal levels, achieving an average hotel occupancy rate of 75 percent during the first seven months of the year.
Tourism positively impacts the region’s economy
Mireya Sosa Osuna, head of the Sinaloa Ministry of Tourism, stated that the high influx of visitors has generated a direct positive impact on the local economy, producing an economic impact of more than 18.554 billion pesos, further strengthening the port city’s tourism leadership in 2026.
“Mazatlán is a spectacular destination that perfectly combines the beauty of its beaches, world-class gastronomy, cultural richness, entertainment for all ages, and, above all, the unmatched warmth of its people,” she said.
Tourism, a key driver of development and well-being for Sinaloa
The state official explained that this momentum is part of Sinaloa’s overall tourism growth. From January to July, the state welcomed a total of 3.1 million tourists, generating more than 20.258 billion pesos for the state’s economy.
With these results, she said the Ministry of Tourism remains committed to strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, and promotion efforts to maintain this pace of growth throughout the rest of the year, under the leadership of Governor Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde, who has set the goal of consolidating tourism as a key driver of development, inclusion, and well-being across the state.
