The port city of Mazatlán reaffirmed its status as a leading national tourist destination by recording an 84 percent hotel occupancy rate during the recent weekend, coinciding with Teachers’ Day celebrations.

Sinaloa’s Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna, noted that Mazatlán continues to solidify its position as one of the favorite vacation spots for domestic tourists—a testament to its appealing culinary, cultural, and beach offerings.

“This weekend, we welcomed over 152,000 visitors to Mazatlán, generating an economic impact exceeding 639 million pesos and benefiting the restaurant, hotel, transportation, and service sectors. Furthermore, the month of May features a total of five weekends, which will undoubtedly inject significant dynamism into tourism activity throughout the entire state,” stated the head of Sinaloa’s Tourism Secretariat.

The tourism success witnessed during this period was not limited to the port city alone but extended to various regions across the state.
From Friday through Sunday, the state of Sinaloa as a whole reported highly positive figures, with a total influx of over 300,000 visitors, an economic impact exceeding 874 million pesos, and an average statewide hotel occupancy rate of 70 percent.

These figures confirm the excellent growth trajectory of the region’s tourism sector, cementing the state’s reputation as a benchmark for hospitality and economic dynamism in the country’s northwest.
