Kidnappers kill victim amid heavy police operation in Sinaloa

A kidnapping victim was killed by their captors in Sinaloa, amidst a large security operation to rescue them.

The Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat reported that on May 11, 2026, they received a 911 call reporting a kidnapping in the Aguaruto district, which led to a search operation by members of the Interinstitutional Group.

As part of the operation, authorities located the vehicle linked to the case on Calzada Aeropuerto. Officers initiated a tactical pursuit that extended to the vicinity of the San Javier neighborhood, where an armed confrontation occurred.

Preliminary reports from authorities indicate that the kidnapping victim was killed by their captors. Additionally, security personnel killed one of the assailants and arrested another person at the scene.

In a statement, authorities indicated that law enforcement agencies will maintain a presence in the area to locate another suspected suspect, and advised the public to follow official instructions.

The agency also requested the public’s cooperation and urged citizens to report any relevant information or emergency situations to 911. It also reminded the public that the 089 hotline remains available for anonymous reports.
