Mazatlán, Sin. – One of the most visited beach areas of this city and port is Olas Altas. Located a few meters from the historic center, it receives hundreds of locals and tourists daily who walk along the boardwalk to admire its unique sunsets.

In recent days, the strip of sand has been considerably
While in the part near the Shield, the beach area is maintained as normal, with a large space for bathers and walkers to rest. In the area in front of the monument to Venadito, there is no sand, with exposed stones, and without the opportunity to walk in the area.

The sea has the answer.
Gustavo Espinoza Bastidas, commander of the Aquatic Rescue Squadron of the municipal police, explained that it is a natural phenomenon that has to do with the moon and the sea currents, which every year move the fine sand out to sea, and towards the summer, they return it to this site, so there is nothing to worry about.

He explained that this has to do with the normal cycle of tides, sea currents, and winds, which currently arrive from the north, and this is reflected in the coastal area, with areas of more or less sand.

“Right now we have the north winds, which are the cold fronts. Right now it’s fresh. When the winds come from the south, when the currents go south, that’s when the other side of the sea begins to fill. Right now, it is empty because they are from the NORTH. they come from the side of the three islands and go to the Island of Goats.”
