CULIACÁN. _ Elements of the Directorate of Protection Services and the Municipal Police of Escuinapa were the target of aggressions by armed civilians in separate events recorded in the vicinity of the community of Tecualilla.
The first incident occurred when state agents were driving on the Mazatlán-Tepic highway and were intercepted by the armed group. As a result of this encounter, two officers were injured; both were transferred to receive medical attention and are reported out of danger.
Subsequently, agents of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat who were traveling to provide support to their colleagues were also attacked. In this second attack, a municipal police officer was injured, although his health condition is reported as stable.
After the attacks, the corporations activated an inter-institutional operation that included federal, state, and municipal forces. Currently, surveillance tours are being carried out with the support of air and ground units in the area to try to locate the civilians involved in the aggressions.
