Five bodies were found abandoned on the side of the Mazatlán-Durango highway, near the municipality of Concordia, Sinaloa.
The discovery was made by members of the National Guard on December 8, 2025, at kilometer 200+700 of the highway, where they observed several bodies lying along the shoulders.
Local media reported that the bodies were found wrapped in plastic, in the northbound lane.
The incident prompted a large deployment of federal and state forces, who cordoned off the area. Forensic experts removed the bodies, which showed signs of violence.
To date, no Sinaloa authorities have reported any arrests in connection with these five murders.
The identities of the five victims have not been released. Their bodies were taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for autopsies.
Sinaloa has been experiencing a wave of violence since the beginning of September 2024, due to the struggle between the criminal organizations Los Chapitos and Los Mayos, stemming from the arrest at an airport in New Mexico, United States, of drug traffickers Ismael Mayo Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, which occurred on July 25 of last year.
