The director of the agency assures that 8 months ago, they were informed that the project is in a Ramsar site, protected by environmental laws
Mazatlán, Sin._ There is no construction permit, and the Punta Nama project has not been submitted to the Urban Development Directorate, said Julio César Osuna Sandoval, director of Urban Development, referring to the suspension of development in Playa Brujas.
The official pointed out that it is a development that eight months ago approached the management to talk about the project and, at that time, they were told that the property is located in a Ramsar site, an international designation that is given for the issue of wetlands and biodiversity preservation.
He indicated that, after the publication of journalist Sheila Arias, the project had been submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for evaluation, inspectand ors went to the area, where they realized that there was already an advertising poster and that they had even moved earth, which is not allowed. since they do not have permits.
“With the address, there is no file entered, there is nothing about them. Since the suspension, they have received calls from the director responsible for the work. The issue is that they knocked down a fence that faces the street that leads to Mr. Lionso’s restaurant, and we realized that they had moved the earth,” he said.
He added that they wanted to put up an advertising billboard, but they were told that it was not possible and that they had to get all the corresponding permits first, hence they have suspended the work.
Osuna Sandoval explained that, for the project to be approved, the first thing is to issue a land use, well specified with all the conditions of the project; this is the official classification that determines what type of activities are allowed on a piece of land, then obtain the feasibility of Jumapam and CFE, and from there the management determines whether to grant the permit or not.
Likewise, it is also necessary to carry out an Environmental Impact Statement, since its execution can cause ecological imbalance as it is located in sensitive areas of wetlands, being a mandatory requirement before Semarnat for works of great impact, changes in land use, or large-scale real estate developments.
“This project particularly asked for an environmental impact statement from Semarnat and asked to see an issue of the ecological law. So, we are waiting for them to resolve it, since they have all that, the complete file is put with us,” he added.
