President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted the coordination between the federal Security Cabinet and Sinaloa state authorities.
The Sinaloa government highlighted the security progress reported by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo in her morning press conference, highlighting the 51 percent reduction in intentional homicides since June.
During “Las mañaneras del pueblo” (The People’s Morning Press Conference) on Wednesday, the Mexican president highlighted the coordination between the federal Security Cabinet and Sinaloa state authorities in implementing security measures that have led to a reduction in crime.
“There is a lot of coordination now in Sinaloa. Recently, they worked together to add 100 more patrol cars, particularly in Culiacán for the State Police itself. There is ongoing coordination between the Federal Security Cabinet and the State Security Cabinet,” said Claudia Sheinbaum.
Within the framework of the National Security Strategy, security in Sinaloa is highlighted as a priority, where significant progress has been made, such as a decrease in crime rates, with a 51 percent drop in intentional homicides from June to date, in addition to strengthening security on the Culiacán-Mazatlán highway with the “Zero Auto Theft” plan.
Security Progress in Sinaloa
Among other notable indicators, security initiatives have been highlighted by the massive presence of tourists, primarily cruise ship visitors, in the port of Mazatlán.
Claudia Sheinbuam presented a video reporting on the actions carried out by the Security Cabinet. She highlighted the progress in security in Sinaloa in particular, which has led to this growth in tourism, as it is considered a safe destination by both domestic and international tourists.
Tourism activity in Sinaloa is a highly important indicator, reflecting confidence in the destination, particularly in Mazatlán, where cruise tourism also stands out, having welcomed 66 cruise ships with 245,000 passengers and an economic impact of 384 million pesos, consolidating the port as a must-see destination for tourists.
The video also highlights that Sinaloa’s security remains a priority for the federal government, which is why President Claudia Sheinbaum instructed the Security Cabinet to have some of its members visit the state every two weeks to supervise the efforts of the three levels of government to restore peace in this state.
In addition to the 51 percent decrease in intentional homicides from June 1 to August 26, the recently implemented “Zero Auto Theft” plan, implemented on July 9 of this year on the Mazatlán-Culiacán highway, has reduced robberies by 46 percent.
