The Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, in coordination with Grupo Posadas, the Convention Center, and the Meetings Industry Committee, held the Meetings Press Trip Mazatlán 2025 this weekend, with the presence of specialized media from the meetings industry.
Mireya Sosa Osuna, State Tourism Secretary, highlighted that with 10 meetings industry events during the month of May, Mazatlán will register an economic impact exceeding 52 million pesos.
The objective of the Meetings Press Trip Mazatlán 2025, held at the Convention Center, was to showcase the destination and allow its visitors to experience everything the port has to offer.
The top 10 media outlets focused on the meetings industry are coming, and we are very happy to have them visit us. Meetings are one of the most important branches of tourism, generating three to four times more than sun and beach tourism for vacations,” she stated.
The official highlighted the synergy with Grupo Posadas, the Convention Center, and the Meetings Industry Committee to host the event.
Sosa Osuna added that these familiarization trips are very important for the destination, as they help position it as one of the best places to hold congresses and conventions in the country.
Currently, Mazatlán has more than 150 event venues, including the Convention Center, with a capacity of 4,500 people; the Great Mazatlán Sea of Cortez Aquarium, with a capacity of 1,200 people in its garden.
Also highlighted are the 1873 Observatory (with a capacity of 500 people); and the Theater Ángela Peralta (800 people), the National Whale Museum (250 people), the Shekinah Beach Club (800 people), the El Encanto Soccer Stadium (25,000 spectators), and the Teodoro Mariscal Stadium (16,000 spectators).
In addition, Mazatlán has a capacity of 14,000 hotel rooms with affordable rates for all budgets.
We showed them the infrastructure of tourism services in the Mazatlán destination, the hospitality that distinguishes us Mazatlecos. We also explored areas of opportunity and discussed training topics, and how, on behalf of Sectur, we will invest in training for the entire tourism sector, the entire value chain,” he stated.
The journalists learned about the port’s air connectivity, with direct flights from major cities in Mexico and the United States, and the highway infrastructure that connects it with the north and center of the country.
The National Congress of Clinical Chemistry in Medicine will be held in the port during the last two weeks of May, from the 21st to the 24th, and the International Mango Symposium will be held from the 28th to the 31st.
The Alcoholics Anonymous Convention will be held in June, from the 6th to the 8th, with over 15,000 attendees.
The ultimate goal of this event was to attract conventions and conferences to Mazatlán and establish its position in the sector.
