Panama, the largest restaurant company in the state, announced the reduction of its operating hours due to the violence in Sinaloa. These cuts are announced on the eve of the celebration of the Mazatlán International Carnival, which will take place from February 27 to March 4.
Through a statement posted on its social networks, the Panama group reported that it will reduce operating hours in its branches in Culiacán and Mazatlán. This information was released on Tuesday night, 24 hours after violent events were reported in both cities and culminated in the murder of 12 people.
“The times we live in have led us to make a difficult decision, one that we never imagined we would have to make. We inform you that, soon, we will make an adjustment to the hours of operation in some branches,” said a first statement that hours later was taken down and replaced by another.
The cuts in hours will apply starting February 20 at the Tres Ríos, Rubí and Francisco Villa branches, three of the busiest in Culiacán, while in Mazatlán the one located in the golden zone. All will close at 5 pm, ceasing to offer dinner service.
Panama is the strongest restaurant and pastry company in Sinaloa, founded in Mazatlán by the Osuna Vidaurri family in 1976, with a growth from local to regional starting in 1990, when they opened the first restaurant of the chain in Culiacán, started as a pastry shop.
Along with this company, other franchises have seen their closure or limitation of operations such as Burger King, whose Tres Ríos branch, one of the most important, announced the closure of operations, providing service only in the Plaza Fórum branch. This closure was announced on the afternoon of Monday, February 17.
