Riu, the chain with the most rooms in Cancun, has bought a plot of land next to its hotel in Mazatlan (Mexico), the Riu Esmerald Bay, to build a second tourist establishment in this area of the Mexican Pacific.
The Mallorcan hotel chain has confirmed to ‘Desarrollo’ that, despite the purchase, the construction of the new hotel is in the project phase but there is no forecast as to when the works will begin.
The hotel chain’s objective is to build a 700-room hotel and expand its presence in Mexico. The seller was Leovi Carranza, the tuna magnate who heads the Pinsa group.
