State authorities have implemented special operations to deal with recent disappearances and ensure safety on Sinaloa’s highways.
According to Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, the actions include house-to-house visits to verify cases of missing persons and the installation of checkpoints on key roads, with the support of the Sedena, the National Guard and state and ministerial police.
“We have a special operation that we are searching for, even house-to-house certifying, because sometimes they return and we file the complaint, but they do not report that they have returned. We are doing a survey in the homes,” explained Rocha Moya, detailing the strategies in progress.
On the highways, the measures seek to avoid blockades and ensure traffic on routes such as the one that connects Sinaloa with Durango.
“We have anti-blockade checkpoints, but now that some people have thrown themselves into the Laguna de Canachí, we have had to double the supervision of the roads. Not only are there seasonal checkpoints for the anti-blockade, but there are already squads of members of the army, the state police, the National Guard, going around the roads,” said the governor.
The governor also recalled the results obtained after installing a checkpoint on the Mazatlán-Durango highway.
“Remember that the highway from Durango to here was stopped when we put the anti-blockade checkpoint. It was a dumping ground, they were there and it was stopped somehow,” he added.
Regarding the records of burned or damaged vehicles since September 9, Rocha Moya said that he did not have the precise data at that time.
