After pointing out that a motorcycle license is required to drive a racer, the deputy director of the Municipal Traffic Police, Juan Sergio Camacho Torres, said that between six and seven fines are applied daily against racer drivers and not all of them have the appropriate license.
”Every day you see about 20, 30 racers, there are quite a few, there are many rental companies renting racers, what is asked of the rental companies is that they ask for their license because in case of an accident the insurance will not be covered for not having the appropriate license for that type of vehicle,” he continued.
”Likewise, rental companies are asked that if they see a person who is under the influence of alcohol, they do not rent them a racer, because they come and say “we want to rent a racer” and they rent it to them, they just ask for identification and they rent it to them, that is why they are stopped by traffic officers because they see them with a beer in their hand, to see if they have a license, many minors also drive racers without a license, they get around six, seven fines a day for racers, not all of them do not have one, but most do not use their license, they do not have the proper license to drive,”
He also announced that these types of vehicles are allowed to circulate on Del Mar, Camarón Sábalo and Cerritos avenues, from north to south they can only go as far as Belisario Domínguez street so that they do not enter Olas Altas and the city center.
“If a patrol detects them crossing the road to Olas Altas, to the Center, they stop them,” he said.
He also said that minors have been sanctioned, not because they are consuming alcohol, but drivers who do not have a license have been detected.
