Red Cross is waiting for you! 42 Mazatlan residents are trained in first aid and “Stop The Bleed”

During the month of July, the Mazatlán Red Cross delegation trained 42 people who responded to the invitation to participate in the “Stop The Bleed” workshop, which in Spanish means “Stop the Bleeding,” as well as in first aid.

Jesús Santiago Jiménez Alvarado, local coordinator of training and prevention, recalled that the worthy institution, concerned about the health of citizens and the emergencies that arise, implemented a series of courses in which all those interested in basic knowledge that can be used in emergency situations can participate.

He mentioned that, with the first aid course, attendees learned to inject, channel, and perform various interventions for any emergency situation.

“There are various reasons why the Red Cross does the training, mainly to be able to benefit citizens by being prepared to face it. As a city we must be prepared for any emergency and civilians have a very important role.”

The local training and prevention coordinator explained that the “Stop The Bleed” workshop is a theoretical-practical training lasting five hours, which has a recovery fee of 500 pesos per person. Here, the citizen learns how to control bleeding, use their hands to apply pressure on a wound, how to seal it to control bleeding, the correct use of the tourniquet, among other things.

Meanwhile, the first aid workshop, which is also theoretical-practical and lasts five hours, has a cost of 350 pesos per person, where the citizen is trained on how to provide first aid to whoever requires it.

Finally, Jesús Santiago Jiménez shared that those interested in participating in these courses can obtain more information at the Mazatlán Red Cross delegation, or if they want to reserve a place, they can call 669 147 0159.
