Mazatlán is anticipating approximately one million visitors during the upcoming Holy Week and Easter vacation period. Authorities from all three levels of government, along with aid and rescue institutions, declare they are ready to provide safety.

“It would be a bit risky to tell you how many visitors we might have, but we believe we will be more or less like the figures from the Carnival, possibly one million visitors throughout the entire vacation period. We are talking about both the vacation period, which is one of the most important we have here at the national level, the period of the holy days, and possibly a little more than Easter Week,” reported the municipal coordinator of Civil Protection, Eloy Ruiz Gastélum.

In an interview with media personnel this Saturday morning after a simulation of a collision between two boats resulting in 25 victims, he mentioned that lifeguards and personnel from other security and rescue institutions are already prepared to participate in the security operation for this upcoming vacation period.

This time, the holiday period will be from March 23 to April 7.

He added that they are seeking to ensure that bathers have a clear understanding of the flag colors, and preventive maintenance is currently being carried out on the lifeguard stations, which are being strategically relocated to areas where it has been detected that it is important to have one, with special emphasis on the areas of Playa Brujas and Cerritos.
