During the visit of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, for the inauguration of the La Concordia aqueduct, militants of the Sinaloense Party and workers of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) expressed their discontent with chants of “ Fuera Rocha !” (out with Rocha) expressing their rejection of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya.

Also in the crosshairs of the demonstrations was Hèctor Melesio Cuen Ojeda’s six-month disqualification from holding public office, a sanction imposed for alleged omissions in his asset declaration, as reported by the Sinaloa Secretariat of Transparency and Accountability.

Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda is a Mexican businessman and politician. He was rector of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa from 2005 to 2009, Municipal President of Culiacan from 2011 to 2012, and local Congressman from 2013 to 2016. Today he is the leader of the Sinaloense Party.

On the other hand, given the upcoming electoral panorama, Cuen Ojeda has directed the PAS towards a coalition called “ Strength and Heart for Mexico ”, seeking to compete in the June elections in which various legislative and local positions will be voted.

Furthermore, in a strategic move, Cuen Ojeda joined the PRI to secure a multi-member candidacy, temporarily leaving his leadership in the background.

Due to classified administrative misconduct

Héctor Melesio Cuen Ojeda, former Secretary of Health, has been disqualified for six months from holding any public office, as reported by  Línea Directa. This decision, made by the  Secretariat of Transparency and Accountability under the direction of  María Guadalupe Ramírez Zepeda, is due to an administrative offense classified as not serious, related to her asset declaration of November 2021. The sanction was formally notified to her on February 21st.

The offense committed by  Cuen Ojeda involves the declaration of assets to the state, a critical process for government transparency, highlighting the importance of such actions in public office.

The Secretariat of Transparency and Accountability, in charge of ruling on disqualification, fulfills the task of ensuring integrity in the exercise of government, demonstrating the commitment to transparency and administrative rectitude.

On the other hand, Sinaloa is currently in the midst of political tensions marked by the demonstrations that pit Governor Rubén Rocha against PAS supporters and UAS workers, which have been increasing as the electoral process approaches.

This scenario reaffirms the situation of political polarization in the entity. Additionally, at a recent event related to the aqueduct, the president of Mexico expressed his support for Rocha, referring to him as his “brother,” which underscores the political alliance in the context of hydraulic projects in the state.

The statements and actions in Sinaloa, both in the field of administrative transparency and in the political-electoral field, highlight the complexity of government management and local political dynamics, marked by collaboration in infrastructure projects and partisan disputes.
