Culiacán.- In the first places at the national level are Mazatlán, Culiacán and Los Mochis, as the most competitive cities in Mexico, according to the Urban Competitiveness Index 2023, prepared by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO).
The Sinaloan cities of Mazatlán and Culiacán were ranked as the second and third most competitive city, respectively, in all of Mexico, among the cities that have from 500 thousand to one million inhabitants, while Los Mochis, appears in the fourth position of among the cities with a population of 252 thousand to 500 thousand inhabitants.
For this reason, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya affirmed that since the beginning of his administration, in these three great cities, as well as throughout the state, works with a social sense have been promoted to meet the needs of the population, but at the same time, in the productive field, security has been provided to the investment.
For this reason, he described as “a pride” that the IMCO has designated them as the most competitive cities in all of Mexico.
In the IMCO evaluation, it is recorded that the best evaluated city in general was Durango, but Culiacán, Mazatlán and Los Mochis occupy some first places in specific sub-indices of the aforementioned Urban Competitiveness Index.
Culiacán has the first place in the Sub-index of Inclusive, Prepared and Healthy Society; as well as in the Sub-index of Stable Economy; the second place in Labor Market; second place also in Innovation of the Economic Sectors, and the fourth place in Infrastructure.
While Mazatlán, occupies the second place in the Sub-indices of Stable Economy, and in that of International Opening; and the fifth place in the Sub-indices of Labor Market; Efficient and Effective Governments; and in that of Infrastructure.
And in the evaluation of the 20 cities with a population between 252 thousand and 500 thousand inhabitants, a range in which Los Mochis is located, unlike Culiacán and Mazatlán, the municipal seat of Ahome has the first place in the Sub-index of Stable Economy; the fifth place in that of Inclusive, Prepared and Healthy Society; the sixth in the section of Reliable and Objective Law System; and the seventh place in the Sub-index of Labor Market.
Culiacán was the second-best city in the sub-index of Innovation and the fourth in the sub-index of Infrastructure for two structured transport systems, for 2.9 debit and credit cards per adult and 36.1 percent of households with computer and Internet.
Also, for Governments and Infrastructure, Mazatlán had the fifth position, having 40.3 percent of households with computer and Internet, two structured transport systems and 96.8 percent of households with mobile phone lines, while in Innovation it had the fifteenth position.
