Mazatlán, Sin.- For the 2023-2024 winter season, the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) in the entity foresees a growth in the arrival of foreign tourists to Mazatlán, and for this they are working to achieve greater connectivity with cities in the United States and Canada.
Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, undersecretary of Tourism Promotion and Operation of the Sectur, said that air connectivity is a priority of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, which is why a delegation made up of officials from this agency and hotel businessmen is in Houston, United States.
“We are very confident that with the good results that Mazatlán has had, new routes that are so desired can be achieved such as Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, that this is foreign tourism and that we are sure that this season, from October to “April or May, because there is going to be a very important rebound.”
The state government official reiterated his confidence that Mazatlán will have a rebound in the arrival of foreign visitors, as happened this year with national tourism, which increased by 13 percent compared to 2022, which has been a historic year in Arrivals.
He mentioned that the winter season will begin at the end of October and they are already beginning to reactivate the routes they have with the United States and Canada, and added that although they are few, they have given results and they are looking to reactivate them all year round, because some are temporary.
On the other hand, Cárdenas Velarde spoke about the Savoring Sinaloa project, a promotional campaign organized by the Ministry of Tourism and different associations, with which they are promoting the different tourist destinations in the state at national level.
He pointed out that there are more than 178 tour operators for this project that also includes the magical towns and stately towns.
“As far as Mazatlán is concerned, the two (hotel) associations participate, as well as we have been inviting the different new attractions, such as the Aquarium (Sea of Cortez) and the Observatory (1873), but above all also the Pueblos Señoriales, who was present at the last Savoring in Mexico City, the town of La Noria.”
