The Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries reports that foreign tourism is already arriving in Mazatlan since the last week of October

MAZATLÁN.- A good winter season is predicted for Mazatlán, at least that is what Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlán, foresees.

He mentioned that the first flights from the United States and Canada have already begun to arrive since the last week of October, in addition to sports tourism, congress and convention tourism, and conventional tourism.

“A positive November is expected, the climate change favors us and the December season, like the seasons we have had until this year, we have exceeded them by between 25 and 30 percent compared to the holiday seasons of last year,” he declared.

Velarde Cárdenas pointed out that the growth is notorious for the destination, between national and international tourism, hoping that in December the figure will exceed the previous year and even 2019.

“Until now we have data that it will grow compared to last year and that they are having very good demand,” he said.

‘Aim for a good year’: José Gámez

For José Gámez Valle, marketing director of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies, Mazatlan is close to reaching the occupancy rates of 2019, since there are good expectations for the end of 2022.

“We are missing some numbers to recover in the part of the United States and Canada, but even so, the expectations are good, it is a good year, as always, what rescues us is the national market, it is the main feeder”, he commented.

Currently, reservations for December, he explained, go above 20 percent in the tourism sector, hoping that throughout November they will increase and in December everything will be busy.
