The deputy director of Municipal Transit called on citizens to respect exclusivity signs and avoid sanctions for violating traffic regulations

MAZATLÁN.- Parking a vehicle in a space designated for people with disabilities is considered one of the most serious offenses in Mazatlán. Given this conduct, a fine of 1,866.96 pesos is imposed, as reported by Juan Sergio Camacho Torres, Deputy Director of Traffic.

The commander of the Traffic department explained that the emergency system regularly receives reports that require its intervention because some drivers commit illegal parking.

“When the presence of a vehicle in a space reserved for people with disabilities is reported to 911, the patrol goes to the place, issues the ticket and, if necessary, requests the support of a tow truck.”

Despite an ongoing campaign that seeks to encourage respect for these spaces, reports of noncompliance are a daily phenomenon, he noted.

The cost of the fine for improperly using areas designated for people with disabilities is classified as serious, since some motorists continue to disrespect these exclusive areas. The sanction is in UMAS, equivalent to 1,866.96 pesos.

Finally, the deputy director of Transit called on citizens to respect these places and avoid sanctions for violating traffic regulations, in addition to urging them to be aware of and respectful of the rights of people with disabilities.
