There were more than 100 reports that were reported through social networks.

During the last days, the port of Mazatlán has been presenting problems with blackouts, for seconds, minutes and even a few hours, however, with the rains and strong winds this Saturday, more than 20 neighborhoods were affected for more than 40 hours without electricity service, causing millions in losses, as stated by business organizations and the government of Mazatlán.

Mayor Edgar González reported that there were more than 100 reports that were presented through social networks and the media, with a balance of 25 affected neighborhoods and a town in the rural area, of which they presented a lack of energy from 12 to 48 hours.

In this sense, the mayor said that regarding the city council, the losses could exceed 10 million pesos, however, regarding the losses that the Mazatlecos also presented, the mayor called on the Federal Electricity Commission to respond promptly and solve the problem.

“There is still annoyance from many people, especially those who do not have energy, because they have more than 24 hours, some more than 30 hours without energy, that is the report we have, there are 26 colonies. All the neighborhoods have energy, but in some sectors of the neighborhoods there is no power”

The Mayor with CFE staff

For his part, the general secretary of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism, pointed out that nearly 3,000 businesses were affected in the southern area of Mazatlán, including restaurateurs and hoteliers, which left approximately 60 million pesos in losses.

“We know that the issue of rain always brings us problems, we talk about the effects that the CFE gives us directly to restaurants or the effects that many businesses could not open 24 hours a day, there is an impact due to the lack of service that we give to tourism due to the closure of businesses that could not open because there was no electricity,” he said.

Both the city council and CANACO agreed that the electrical failures are possibly due to a lack of maintenance at the CFE plants, however, they called on the Commission to respond to the substation without failures and to stop having blackouts, since otherwise they indicated that they will take action in this regard, among which is to file a lawsuit against the company.
