Last year the Naval Combat was held on Avenida del Mar, but this year the battle will return to Paseo Olas Altas and the parade will return to its traditional route, reported the Municipal Civil Protection Coordinator, Eloy Ruiz Gastélum.

He added that the Security Operations that will be implemented for these holidays will take place from February 16 to 19 are practically ready in its entirety.

“But it is a planned operation, the strategy is always to take care of the events, let’s remember that on this occasion there are adjustments to the Carnival events as such, the parade route, the Naval Combat that returns to what is the Olas Altas area, because that forces us to be a little more careful and above all to pay more attention”, continued Ruiz Gastélum.

He specified that in the event of the return of the original route of the parade, it was decided by several aspects, one of them is due to the fatigue of the people who go in the allegorical floats and since the journey was longer, the members of the comparsas ended up exhausted, they attended several incidents for that reason before the parade concluded.

“The parade route returns to the traditional route that starts at the Monument to the Fisherman and ends at Avenida Rafael Buelna (on Sunday), let’s remember that in previous years it started here in Zaragoza and Claussen where the Ciudades Hermanas Park is, this year it returns to the original route”.

Following the recommendations made by the Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán, it was decided that the route would return to its original route on Sunday.

On Tuesday the parade takes place from Avenida de los Deportes to Paseo Olas Altas.

The Municipal Coordinator of Civil Protection expressed that the return of the Naval Combat to Olas Altas is because when it was done on Avenida del Mar there was much greater distance to cover and the complications for the personnel were a bit strong due to the distance that this implies.

“And above all, it was not the best option due to the fact that we have a lot of surrounding risks, especially the restaurants (with palapas) that we have in the beach area,” Ruiz Gastélum reiterated.
