Pan American U10 Baseball Championship inaugurated in Sinaloa

Four children from Sinaloa and five from Sonora are part of the Mexican national team.

For the first time in history, Sinaloa is hosting the U10 Pan American Baseball Championship, which will receive players from 9 to 11 years of age, from five Latin American countries from November 20 to 27.

On behalf of Doctor Rubén Rocha Moya, Governor of the State, the Secretary of Public Education and Culture, Graciela Domínguez Nava, inaugurated the sports fair at Parque Culiacán 87 in the Sinaloa capital, which will host a total of 20 matches that will take place They will be played between Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic.

In her message, the state official pointed out that this type of event is an opportunity to foster camaraderie and friendship between different nations.

“What better than sport for us to make a cry for peace in their countries and throughout the world. Welcome back to your dads, your moms, your coaches who make it possible for you to be here. Congratulations for your discipline, for your effort and we are sure that it will be a great experience in your life”, said Domínguez Nava.

For his part, the municipal president of Culiacán, Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil pointed out that, as children’s players, it is a meeting of emotions to participate in Pan-American level jousts.

“Perhaps I remembered a little my moments as a child baseball player, that I would have liked to have been, participated in an event of this magnitude, represented my country, which I am sure is something that they must be enjoying a lot right now,” declared the Mayor.

It was the head of the SEPyC who served as the batter of the first ball, which was thrown by the head of the Sinaloense Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Julio César Cascajares, who in his message pointed out that the government of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya is committed and working so that the sport in Sinaloa continues to grow.

“Really, in the sport of the government of Rubén Rocha Moya, we are well committed, we are working and we will continue working so that the sport of the state of Sinaloa continues to grow, nobody is going to stop us,” said the head of the ISDE.

The ceremony was packed with Major Leaguers and former Major Leaguers, headed by the Sinaloan champion of the World Series José Urquidy, as well as Oliver Pérez, Roberto Osuna, Luis Urías, Rodrigo López, Luis Ignacio Ayala, Jaime García, Randall Simon, among others more.

In his speech, Engineer Enrique Mayorga Betancourt, President of the Mexican Baseball Federation, indicated that it is important not only to support home players, but also those who are visiting our state, in order to provide them with warmth.

“The one they are going to support for natural reason is our country, our children, but I also know that they are going to celebrate all the great plays that all the children from the countries that accompany us are going to dedicate to us, those who today made a great effort to be here,” he explained.

Mexico is the country that has hosted the most editions in the history of the competition, this being the seventh time that this event of international stature is held in our territory; five of them in Mexico City and in the previous edition, it took place in Reynosa Tamaulipas in 2017. In the 1996 and 1997 editions, Mexico achieved victory at home.
