MAZATLAN. – The Secretary of Economy of the state government, Javier Gaxiola Coppel, held a meeting with the municipal president of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, where they spoke of large investments that are expected to be made in the port, mainly in the real estate sector.
He indicated that businessmen from the United States are interested in investing in this sun and beach destination, especially in the real estate sector, which can favor the hotel industry and, later, enter other commercial lines.
“We have issues of some investments, the visit that I had to make last weeks to Phoenix, Arizona, where we are going to have some possible interested investors for Mazatlan, start in the real estate sector,” said Gaxiola Coppel.
He pointed out that first it is to start with investment in real estate development, from there investors will be brought from the state of Arizona, and then to include other industries, but the arrival would be of real estate developments or hotels for the destination.
He commented that the visit was for work and routine to see what they are doing together for the good of the economic development of the state, which includes the port, where they discussed some events that are going to be held soon in Mazatlan, but he clarified that everything will announce in due course.
For his part, Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, stated that during the talk with the Secretary of Economy, one of the topics discussed was helping businessmen seeking support with soft loans, through the three levels of government. .
“We had a long talk because there were important issues, I couldn’t attend to it the previous time due to Covid, but we discussed an important issue that once it is finalized I will make it known, which is helping businessmen with soft loans,” he concluded.

On the subject of the new “Warning” of the US that includes the veto of Sinaloa due to crime and kidnapping, the Secretary of Economy, Javier Gaxiola Coppel pointed out that the important thing is to see the increase in visitors in Mazatlan, as well as in Sinaloa.
He commented that flights continue to increase in Sinaloa above 68 percent, this compared to last year’s figures.
“The hard data is telling us that there is an increase in visits and as I said at the time, tourists have confidence in Mazatlan and Sinaloa, and investors are still interested,” he said.
For his part, Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, described as irresponsible to make this warning by the neighboring country, since he does not see the real indicators of violence, as he assures that in Sinaloa they have gone down, unlike other points from the country.
