Mazatlan alcohol checkpoints detain 53 drivers over the weekend; 19 were foreigners

Mazatlán.- The Deputy Director of Municipal Traffic, Jorge Samuel Alvarado Illustrious, announced that the Alcohol Program is maintained as a strategy of the Municipal Government to reduce the statistics of road accidents derived from excessive alcohol consumption, and is applied from Wednesday to Saturday in different parts of the city.


The result obtained from August 3 to 6 was the sanction of 47 men and 6 women. 19 were foreigners. A man was referred before the civic judge.


He detailed that there were 346 tests carried out on men and 77 on women, and where another 213 drivers had alcoholic breath but within the permitted limit.


In addition, 6 vehicles were transferred to the municipal pension for their protection, and 47 were released on the spot to a relative, while the age range was from 19 to 71 years.


Regarding vehicular accidents, from August 5 to 7, five road mishaps were recorded with the balance of one person injured and material damage of 230,000 pesos.
