Mazatlan, Sinaloa. – The director of Civil Protection in Sinaloa, Héctor Félix Carrillo, reported that, in the municipalities of Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Guasave, 129 communities, with 64 thousand 577 inhabitants, would be served due to drought problems.

The state official stated that work is already being done on the application for the declaration of a disaster area due to drought, for the rainy season, contemplating 12 municipalities, with 237 communities and benefiting 97,568 people.

However, he stated that, in the process, the mayors of Mazatlán, Culiacán and Guasave have already raised their hands to also receive federal resources.

“With this I am giving such an important message that figures and numbers are constantly changing, so we are already talking about the 18 municipalities, 15, they are already practically declaring themselves in a disaster zone due to drought,” he added.

The state official commented that, at the moment, the resource that the State Government will receive from the Federation is unknown, with which drinking water will be sent to the communities that face the crisis by means of pipes and they will deliver bottled water, among other actions.

Félix Carrillo said that, according to specialists, historically on six occasions some municipalities of Sinaloa have been declared a disaster zone due to drought.
