Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries in the Municipality -Sedectur- Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, highlighted that in the first quarter of this year, investment in Mazatlán is already close to 7 billion pesos, for which is confident that the goal of 15 billion pesos per year set out in the Municipal Development Plan 2021-2024 will be reached without problems.

The head of the Sedectur, highlighted that the previous triennium the investment reached 40 billion pesos, and for this reason, the current government set a goal of 15 billion pesos per year, in fact, in those investments, he highlighted, it seeks to attract hotels and chain restaurants.

“We are talking with developers of shopping malls and hotel and restaurant chains. Two weeks ago we were at the HVS MexHIC 2022 Forum, which is the most important hotel chain meeting in the country and where they announced, in information from Datatur, that Mazatlán is the destination with the highest percentage of hotel occupancy in 2021, and that puts us in the interest of the investor, added to the confidence that the municipal authority is with them, offering them facilities and incentives” he expressed.

Velarde Cárdenas announced that a shopping mall is about to be reactivated in the Marina area, whose construction stopped at the beginning of the pandemic, in which some chain restaurants are expected to be installed.

He even mentioned chains such as Grupo Costeño, which manages the Mochomos, Cuernos and other meat restaurants, which will come to give the destination a gastronomic alternative, based -until now- mainly on seafood.

He also spoke of the possibility that a Hilton hotel be restored in this new shopping plaza.

He pointed out that Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres is entrusted not only to reach the proposed goal of attracting tourism investment, but also that it be distributed equitably in the tourist area of ​​the city, and that is what is being achieved.

“What is interesting right now is that Mazatlan is developing not only in a particular area. You can see development investments, hotels and restaurants, and it is from the Historic Center to Cerritos, the Golden Zone that has been affected for a long time, from the El Cid hotel to the Marina, in other times it had an important reactivation and this helps us for Mazatlán to be distributed in an equitable economic manner, which was the task of our mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez,” he said.
