The Chamber of Commerce supports the non-use of face masks on beaches but will respect the health provision
Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- As a prelude to Holy Week, Mazatlan hotels registered an occupancy of over 80%, confirmed Roberto Lem Páez.
The president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Mazatlán stated that the destination registered a high influx of tourists over the weekend and that the same levels are expected starting next Friday, with the start of the school vacation period.
“ We had a lot of people over the weekend and we hope that Easter will exceed expectations, even reservations are already at the maximum level allowed,” he said.
Lem González added that the use of face masks may not be necessary on beaches, or in open spaces, but they will abide by the provisions of state and municipal authorities.
He explained that according to the hospitalization of 1% of Covid-19 cases and the marked downward trend, with a green traffic light in all the states of the country, it could be said that the pandemic is being controlled, however, they will always be respectful of what the authority indicates.
“ I think that in open places we would not have major complications, I do not see the case of using the mask, but yes, we would respectfully do what we did at the time, but in reverse. We must be a responsible society and we must also put the use of the face mask in the hands of the entire society, whoever wants to use it should use it without any problem, ”he expressed.
The leader of the merchants pointed out that it is above all interesting to increase the capacity, which for now is at 80%, to allow the economy in the port to have a break in this time of lower risk of contagion by coronavirus.
He specified that Mazatlan is emerging as one of the favorite tourist destinations to vacation this Easter since hotel reservation levels already exceed 80% and could reach full houses if allowed by governments.
