Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The skeleton and skin of a humpback whale appeared near the beach area of the Estrella del Mar hotel complex, in the southern part of the municipality of Mazatlán, during the morning of this Sunday.

According to the report by Eloy Ruiz Gastélum, coordinator of Civil Protection in the port, the animal would have been dead for several days, but until this weekend it “ran aground” on the land of the municipality, without apparent internal organs

“Well, it just came out this morning, it’s already dead enough already, because it’s the pure skeleton already, as they say with the skin forum, as you can see, but I don’t know how long whatever it is is already dead , Profepa is already in charge of making the measurements, taking a tissue sample, if it still has it, they make their opinion and bury what remains of the skeleton”.

It will be the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection, who already has knowledge from an early hour, to give the final destination to the remains of the whale, in addition to taking the necessary samples to determine the possible causes of death.

He added that in the case of Civil Protection, he clarified that they only provide assistance to the federal agency with a delegation in Sinaloa, in case they require personnel or machinery to carry out the work to bury the remains.

From December to April, humpback whales arrive at the coast of Sinaloa and other entities of the Mexican Pacific, coming from the north of the United States, Canada, and Alaska, for their reproduction and labor; Among the large groups of whales there are animals of different ages, who usually die on the way, some others as a result of fishing.
