Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The traditional Elota Oyster Fair, which in its 2022 edition was scheduled to take place on February 5 and 6, has been canceled.

This was agreed by the City Council itself, in the face of the current health emergency due to Covid-19 and the presence of the Omicron variant .

Through a statement, the municipal president of Elota, Ana Karen Val Medina, announced that the decision seeks to prevent the spread of the virus in the municipality, for which the cancellation of the event has been disseminated through the Directorate of Tourism. which year after year takes place in front of the beaches of Celestino Gazca.

He specified that this also endorses the commitment to work for the promotion and strengthening of tourism, being a priority activity in Elota, but putting the health of its inhabitants first.

This fair has had significant growth, as it has reached an attendance of 15,000 people and an economic benefit of two million pesos in one weekend.
